Warning signs: how to spot a foreign casino you should not trust
Before you choose · signs before and after a deposit
A casino that does not pay rarely gives itself away on the front page. It gives itself away in the register, in the terms and in the chat, once you ask for your money. Here are the signs we look for, and what to do if your withdrawal has already stalled.
On the board of foreign casinos the lamps show what we were able to confirm. This page is about the opposite: the signs that should stop you before you deposit, and the signs that surface once it has already happened.
Before you deposit
A licence logo with no register behind it
A Curaçao or Anjouan logo in the footer is a picture. Press it. If it opens cert.cga.cw or the Anjouan register with a certificate for this exact domain, fine. If it opens nothing, or a page on the casino's own domain, it proves nothing. How to look it up yourself: check a casino licence.
A certificate for another domain
A company can hold a valid licence for one domain and run the casino on another. If the certificate names a different domain, the licence does not cover the place you are playing. All thirteen casinos on the board hold a certificate for the right domain; that is not true of every casino you will meet.
Terms with no word about withdrawals
When do they ask for documents? How much can you take out? What happens to a large win? A casino that answers none of those three questions in its terms is not necessarily acting in bad faith. But it has not bound itself to anything either, and the risk is yours.
A bonus that is too good
An «up to 590 %» or a large offer without a deposit is not a warning sign in itself. It becomes one when the bonus terms cannot be found, when the wagering requirement is not stated, or when the bonus switches on automatically with no way to turn it off. How to do the arithmetic on a bonus: bonuses at foreign casinos.
Pressure and haste
Countdowns, «today only», messages that other players have just won large sums. Serious casinos run campaigns too, but pressure is a technique meant to make you deposit before you have read anything.
After you have asked for a withdrawal
- «Being processed» with no deadline. A withdrawal may well take time, but the terms or customer support should be able to say how long.
- New demands that appear nowhere in writing. Documents the terms do not mention, or a wagering requirement you have never heard of.
- A demand for a new deposit. «Deposit 200 USDT to release your withdrawal» or «pay tax to get the money». That is the clearest sign of them all. Do not deposit.
- The account closed after a win. With reference to a rule you cannot find, or with no reference at all.
What to do if it happens
- Stop depositing. Whatever the chat says.
- Find the clause in the terms. The rule the casino points at, or the one that ought to apply.
- Write to customer support. With the transaction ID, the date and a reference to the clause. Ask for an answer in writing.
- Save everything. Screenshots of the balance, the withdrawal request, the chat and the emails.
- Contact the licensor. The one named on the certificate. It is not quick, but a complaint to the licensor is the only place outside the casino where the case is put on record.
And to avoid it next time: always make a trial withdrawal before you put larger sums in.
When the casino is not the problem
Some of the signs above are not about the casino but about you: depositing again to win back what you lost, considering a deposit to «release» a win, or letting the stress of a withdrawal push you into playing more. That is the moment to stop and talk to somebody. StopSpillet answers on 70 22 28 25. More in play safely.
